Herman Miller Receives Silver for Sayl Chair

The recipients of the Silver IDEA award are Herman Miller, Yves Behar and fuse Project. The Sayl family of seating was honored with the Silver in the category of Office & Productivity. This seating solution provides high performance and ergonomics. As you can see the frameless design incorporates a 3-D Intelligent suspention back that conforms to the shape of a person’s back and movements while maintaining proper support.

“By combining Yves Béhar’s vision and our diligent research and engineering, we achieved a revolutionary seating solution that sets new standards,” said Peggy Kelly, Herman Miller’s Director of North American Seating. “Receipt of this award encourages us to continue to raise the bar when it comes to providing Herman Miller customers with forward-thinking designs that provide the comfort, support, and quality they have come to expect from us.”

This chair continues to impress and intrigue it’s viewers and users. This is not the first time this chair has received an award and is most likely not the last. It also boasts several certifications for its use of sustainable materials in inventive ways and being environmentally friendly in the event if its dismantle as it is 93% recyclable.

NeoCon 2011 has come and gone as Herman Miller and Nemschoff earned the Gold this year for their Oaisis Overbed Table. NeoCon is an event designed to inspire new and innovative commercial interior product design and development. Many companies present their ideas in their showrooms in hopes that they have the next great product that takes the industry by surprise. There are 42 categories these products fall into such as Healthcare, Education, Commercial, etc. 50 judges evaluate the products before the show opens to the public.

Herman Miller and Nemschoff collaborated for the creation of the Oasis Overbed Table. It’s space-saving design and ease of utilization creates a more relaxed environment for patients as well as the caregivers themselves. These characteristics helped them win the Gold Award. “In partnership with Nemschoff, Herman Miller Healthcare has advanced care capabilities within healing environments,” said Herman Miller Healthcare President Beth Nickels. “Receiving this award proves our ability to provide significant solutions for the healthcare industry.” The showroom displays other creative pieces as Herman Miller and Nemschoff have over 40 years of experience dealing with Healthcare environments.

She has over five years of experience in the commercial architecture, design, and furniture industry. She brings great knowledge and experience as a commercial interior designer, commercial furniture dealer designer, and as an account executive. Michelle is well connected in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and has close relationships with brokers, architects, designers, and most importantly, end users. Michelle has demonstrated a unique ability to utilize her knowledge of interior design and furniture products to find unique and cost-effective solutions for all types of office environment challenges. She is looking forward to continuing to grow in the account executive role, as well as continuing to grow strong relationships within the design community. Erin recently joined SupplySource DC as Business Development Manager to help grow their presence in the A&D and commercial real-estate market. A northern Virginia native, Erin brings a diverse background perfect for this position. Erin studied interior design at James Madison University. After college she joined the team at BBG-BBGM and was able to work on hospitality projects across the USA and internationally. After that she went to a smaller construction company and helped them with their business development efforts. Most recently, Erin performed in a dealer sales position promoting Herman Miller and other innovative products. Erin brings a passion for design, and her love for connecting with people and growing their business relationships and friendships will be a great asset to SupplySource DC, our business partners, and customers. We would like to announce that Kelly Shaffer has been hired as a salesperson for our Camp Hill office. Kelly has considerable experience as an office furniture salesperson and was a manufacturer rep. She has been working at Phillips Group (Steelcase) in the Harrisburg area since 2006 and before that worked for Humanscale. Kelly lives in Mechanicsburg, is married, and has a son. SupplySource, Inc. is celebrating its 25^th anniversary having been founded in 1984 by Ray and Pam Thompson in Williamsport, Pa. The company originally started as an office products business then gradually shifted to selling office furniture. By the early 1990’s almost all of the company sales became office furniture. The growing success in selling office furniture, particularly to the Commonwealth of Pa., led to Herman Miller to approach SupplySource in 1994 to be their contract holder with the State. From 2004 to 2009, SupplySource was the “Best Value Primary Furniture” supplier to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Since becoming an exclusive Herman Miller dealer, SupplySource has experienced substantial growth. The company has become one of the largest full service office furniture dealers in Pa. Currently, it has office locations in Williamsport, Lancaster, Camp Hill, State College, and Johnstown with a combined staff of over 60 employees.

In 2008, SupplySource created a LLC for conducting business in Washington, DC.
